Panic attacks can feel frightening and overwhelming, especially when they seem to appear without warning.
The good news is that panic attacks are highly treatable. Using evidence-based hypnotherapy, I help clients understand what is happening in their mind and body so they can regain a lasting sense of calm and confidence.
What does a panic attack feel like?
Many people describe a sudden racing heart, tight chest, dizziness, or the sense that something terrible is about to happen.
These experiences can make it feel as if you are losing control, when in fact they are your body’s natural alarm system reacting too strongly.
Why do panic attacks happen?
Panic attacks are closely linked to the body’s fight-or-flight response. When the nervous system becomes stuck in a heightened state of alert, the brain can begin reacting as if there is danger even when there isn’t.
How can hypnotherapy help?
The good news is that this response can be retrained.
Clinical hypnotherapy helps calm the nervous system and teach the mind new patterns of response, allowing the body to gradually move out of constant alert mode.
• panic attacks that seem to come out of nowhere
• fear of the next panic attack happening
• avoiding situations because of anxiety
• racing thoughts that won’t switch off
• feeling constantly on edge
Hypnotherapy works by guiding the mind into a deeply relaxed and focused state.
In this state the brain becomes more open to positive change and new ways of responding to stress.
Many people find that as their nervous system settles, panic attacks begin to feel less intense and less frequent.
My practice is based in Rickmansworth, and I work with clients from Watford, Croxley Green, Chorleywood and Northwood, as well as online across the UK.
